It’s my younger daughter’s 6th birthday today, so it seems only natural that I asked her to help me review a new DVD that was not only about birthdays, but that stars one of her favorite characters. Poppy Cat: Birthday Treasure and Other Adventures stars the beloved kitty from the Sprout TV series by the same name who is making her video debut. In this 80-minute release of seven epsiodes, Poppy and her gaggle of animal friends are again off on a fantasy trip, as they journey through magical lands and meet new friends. The reason this series is such a hit, in our humble opinion, is because it allows kids with big imaginations to feel right at home–and this DVD follows this same path. In [&hellip

When it comes to favorite pigs, Miss Piggy will always be at the top of my famiy’s list. But coming in at a close second is none other than Peppa Pig, the precocious preschooler from across the pond whose everyday antics add up to a ton of fun. Both my girls enjoy her show on Nick Jr. (even if the 4th grader refuses to admit it!), as they tune in to find out what type of mischief (er, fun) Peppa and her brother George will get into this time. It’s a rainy day-before-Thanksgiving here in NY, and if you’ve got cooking and/or baking ahead of you this afternoon, you may want to set the kiddies up with some indoor entertainment. My girls happen to be fans of Guess How Much I Love You, a storybook that’s been so well-read, its pages have been tattered and torn over the years (a good indication of a favorite book in our house). The endearing story of Little Nutbrown Hare and his father comes to the small screen in Guess How Much I Love You: Hidden Treasure, a DVD compilation of seven animated episodes straight from the Disney Junior TV series. The story lines are timeless childhood lessons, like learning to look for the extraordinary in the everyday [&hellip

Because my girls were often too impatient to wait for “Elmo’s World,” their favorite part of “Sesame Street,”  we often turned it on to catch the last 10 minutes of the show. If your kids clamor for that lovable red monster too, they’ll be delighted by the prospect of having all Elmo, all the time in his newest DVD. “Elmo’s Favorite Things” features eight popular EW segments–over 2 hours of Elmo entertainment. EW regulars already [&hellip

At a time when SpongeBob is making waves for influencing poor attention spans in preschoolers, I feel the need to dust off some of my childhood classics, crawl back under the covers and remember a time when no one griped that Cookie Monster was responsible for making us eat too many chocolate chips. One of my favorite friends was Babar, the elegant elephant whose only flaw was making me want to learn French before I could master the English language. Nevertheless, the antics of papa elephant, Celeste and their adorable family was my first taste of sophistication and one that I can appreciate even more today as I read to my children. Picking up from where the story lines leave off are newly released twin [&hellip
