What mom couldn’t use a little “om” in her day-to-day? This morning at the library, I witnessed a mom desperately trying to quiet her babbling toddler while perusing the stacks. Despite her efforts, she was not successful and judging by her tone, her mounting frustration was entirely palpable. I know when I experience those stressed-out-mom moments, a little treat for the senses provides some welcome relief. It’s why the new skincare line from Baby Mantra caught our attention. Made from all-natural, organic ingredients like lavender, coconut and shea butter, these products are designed for those most sensitive skin, and are also a favorite of moms in need of a little TLC for themselves. Our favorite is the 2-in-1 Shampoo & Body Wash that contains a moisturizing coconut oil/sesame oil blend that is as calming as it is cleansing. Since we know how slippery bathtime can get, it helps to have one multitasking product that lets us keep an extra hand on an active baby. Even ones who run through the non-fiction section, too.
In a Nutshell: Treat your little one–and yourself–to a new line of organic skincare that turns tub time into tranquility.
Baby-soft skin…it’s something I was fortunate to have through much of my childhood. When I was little, my dad used to reach over and playfully rub my cheeks. By the time I became a teenager, this small gesture became mildly embarrassing. But now that I’m a mom, I find myself doing the same thing to my daughters. Their unblemished, tender faces are a thing of beauty, something that makes wish that I could freeze this moment and keep them little forever. Well, since time won’t be standing still for this daydreaming mom, at least I can keep my girls’ skin in top condition. BabySpa‘s new collection of natural skincare is specially formulated to work for different ages and stages, since your kid’s skin changes as she grows. From Tearless Baby Shampoo, to Moisturizing Body Lotion, each product offers the added benefits of pampering young skin through age 4. We test drove the body lotion and loved its refreshing scent and smooth texture. Its aloe and sweet almond oil ingredients make for a thirst-quenching, protective balm for extra-dry skin. We used this citrus-smelling lotion right after bath time, but it also works well in the a.m. or for a little post-nap pick-me-up. And since the hot summer sun can also dry out sun-exposed skin, BabySpa’s lotion will come in handy after a day at the beach.
In a Nutshell: Newborn skin may not last forever, but with this high-end line of natural skincare for babies and preschoolers, you can treat your child’s with tender loving care.
I’m a huge fan of kid products that serve more than one purpose: wipes for diaper changes and spot-cleaning, sunscreen with bug repellent…the list goes on. And when bathtime rolls around, having one less bottle of bubbles in our already-overcrowded bath caddy makes an otherwise nutty time of day a little more manageable. For the multitasking mama comes Philip Kingsley Baby Shampoo and Body Wash. The first product in a new line of baby care items named for the Hair Doctor himself, this extra-gentle formula contains a chamomile extract to soothe tender scalps and mild conditioning ingredients to prevent tangled tresses. Plus, it’s paraben (chemical)-free and has a non-allergen fragrance for sensitive, little noses. We love that PK Baby comes in a generously-sized, 500-ml pump dispenser, making it one less thing to wrestle with in the tub. Now you have a free hand to wrangle that escapee rubber duckie. Got him now…phew!
In a Nutshell: We know you already stock your bath with grown-up spa products (who’s kidding who?). Let your little one experience true bliss with a luxurious bath line that gets her squeaky clean and smelling like a rose.
Today, we said goodbye to being a baby and hello to the world of big girls. And it was all because of a raincoat. Before heading out to drive my almost 3-year-old to preschool this morning, we were greeted with a round of April showers and so that meant scouring the closet for a hooded jacket. I came across a hand-me-down polka dot slicker in size 3T and considered it. Surely she’s too little to fit this already, I mused. But because I have a clotheshorse in the making and lo and behold, it fit perfectly. As my daughter paraded around the room in her new gear, oblivious to my surprise, it hit me hard just how fleeting those days of wearing onesies and footed pajamas can be. Well, at least she can still smell like a baby, so I’m holding on to childhood a little bit longer with the Carter’s baby bath and body care line. Remember the old jingle, ‘If they could just stay little, ’til their Carter’s wear out?’ You can’t help but hum it when slathering on the soothing diaper cream or lathering wispy locks with baby shampoo. The scent is heavenly and all of the products in the line, including wipes, a body lotion and a unique liquid powder that I may just have to covet, are pediatrician-tested and hypoallergenic. We may not be able to stop time, but at least our noses can be fooled into feeling like we have.
In a Nutshell: Breathe deeply and inhale the scent of your little one for as long as she’ll let you.
