    Have you ever had a day like this? My family and I were briskly walking the streets of midtown Manhattan when, out of nowhere, the rain came pelting down. The forecast had called for “a chance of showers,” but this was a full-blown soaker. Not only did I forego raincoats for my daughters in favor of sweet cardigans to go along with their summer finery (OK, so they were simple sundresses, but you can feel my pain), but we only had one umbrella between the four of us.     April showers bring May flowers–and headaches for moms. After a rather brutal winter spent mostly indoors, I’m not welcoming this rather rainy spring. I’d much rather have my girls outdoors digging up worms than inside fighting over who gets to man the Calico Critters treehouse (A war between hedgehogs and bunnies is not a pretty sight.)     If I had a dime for every time my 6-year-old asks my husband if she can play Angry Birds, I’d be able to pay for her first semester of college. OK, well maybe just her textbooks, but you get the idea. I shudder to think what will happen once she has her own Smartphone someday.
