Picking out clothes for my kids is a blast (so much more fun than shopping for myself). There are no shortage of fashionable options at reasonable prices, and of course, I always like to splurge on a big-ticket item every now and then. Some moms may think I’m lucky because I’m shopping for girls (to them I say, get back to me in a few years and we’ll see who’s having fun now!). Even while I’m out and about, I like to check out what’s hot in boys and truthfully, I don’t see as much style and variety as there could be. That’s all about to change, thanks to the just-launched King of Harts. A clothing line with celebrity cache attached to it, it’s the [&hellip

Boy, it sure is cold around here…and we’re not just talking about the weather. Ever since Disney announced that they’ll be making a sequel to Frozen, we’ve been tingling with excitement! You can expect plenty of toy makers to be working feverishly as they roll out new Frozen merchandise long before the movie’s release date. Last spring, the Talking Walnut reviewed some of Uncle Milton’s Frozen room decor. Now we’re taking a closer look at the latest additions to their growing Frozen merchandise. Among our favorite picks is the Snowball Light Projector, featuring soft blue and white lights that cast snowflakes on bedroom walls and ceilings. With three different light show programs, kids can settle in amidst a gentle backdrop that quietly ushers them off [&hellip

All it takes is one sunny day with temps that hint of spring, and wanderlust strikes! (Yup, it’s been that kind of winter.) My kids keep asking if they can wear short sleeves, but we all know how tricky the month of March can be…With an eye on the calendar, we are eagerly counting down to spring break and that means scores of families heading out of town. Even if your brood won’t be joining the masses, it never hurts to indulge in some vacation-style play. It’s why the Sea Dog Tote from Douglas caught our eye this season. Just this past weekend, my 6-year-old watch in amazement as a woman walked around town with her dog securely zipped up inside her sweatshirt. With just [&hellip

When my daughters were teething, a fresh-out-of-the-fridge snail-shaped teeth was a true lifesaver. Of course, tossing that poor snail onto the floor every few minutes quickly became a game, one they never seemed to tire of (maybe that took their minds off the pain, huh?). Surely there must be a better way to soothe your baby’s irritable gums without killing your back in the process?…Enter the Munch Mitt, a soft glove with a nubby, textured top designed for babies 3-12 months to gnaw on. The mitt fits securely around a child’s wrist via a Velcro enclosure–no more dropped teether for you to retrieve–and the BPA-free, silicone teether features a patterned surface that’s bound to attract your little one’s attention. Available in a handy travel bag, [&hellip

Like most of the Northeast, we are quite sick of winter. Enough with the endless snow, cold winds, slushy roads, school delays and shoveling! We don’t care if the groundhog was right or wrong; we’re ready for spring! As we watch the determined sun melt away all that snow –along with our winter blues–our thoughts turn to warmer weather, bringing flowers, green grass and the Easter Bunny. While you’re on the lookout for great basket stuffers this season, keep in mind a fresh idea for the baskets themselves. We recently stumbled upon Packable Pails, a line of colorful, collapsible buckets that do more than hold their fair share of jelly beans and chocolate eggs. If your house is anything like ours, the attic is packed [&hellip

When my girls were babies, tub time was awesome: the squeaky toys, the sweet-smelling soap, and of course, all those bubbles. It was a blast…until, of course, it was time to get out. It wasn’t that my girls protested too much, but rather that I couldn’t quite get a handle on them (literally). Even more challenging was trying to open up a big bath towel and then transfer them out of the bath. I either had to lay them down on the floor (ouch!) or gamble with an unsafe spot (on top of the clothes hamper? No thank you!). Thanks to a newly invented mom product, this dilemma is no longer an issue at bathtime. Shaikoo is billed as a hands-free baby towel and it’s [&hellip

One of my friends is expecting her first baby this winter, and so naturally, I’m shopping for that perfect gift. She’s a city girl and someone who can appreciate the finer things in life. What do you get when you want to distinguish your baby shower present from a sea of adorable outfits, cuddly teddy bears and other baby basics? While I may turn to her registry for something she has already requested, I’d love a gift topper that speaks for itself. Well, after stumbling upon a new line of NYC-themed rattles from Estella, I think my search may be over. These hand-knit first toys are like nothing we’ve seen before. Designed in a variety of urban motifs, including a taxi cab, salted pretzel (of [&hellip

I have always loved setting a holiday table. When my husband and I first hosted Thanksgiving, I remember putting out the miniature turkey place card holders that capped off each plate setting. A scattering of colorful fall leaves, carefully positioned away from a glowing candlelight, completed the festive look, one that I took pride in creating. As time passed and we had a family of our own, we traded Turkey Day for Christmas at our house. A glass tumbler filled with Christmas ball ornaments, pine cones and a few artfully arranged candy canes was front and center. Because we had small children with prying hands, I put my candles away for the time being…but not without a heavy heart. I missed that soft glow and [&hellip

For the tween girl who’s always complaining of dry lips and has grown tired her Chapstick, she’ll want to get her hands on eos Visibly Soft Lip Balms. Designed in an unmistakably unique sphere, this lip balm is as much fun to put [&hellip
