I’m not offended that my daughter would rather ride in my husband’s Audi TT than my car. Even if my set of wheels suits me just fine–and represents its own class of fine German engineering–(have you figured it out yet?) all they see is a station wagon instead of sports car. My 7-year-old loves the thrill of peeling down the street, racing ahead of traffic (notice I didn’t say “speeding”). It doesn’t hurt me one bit when she begs to go in my husband’s car when they head out for weekend errands, even if that means being cooped up in his tiny backseat (did I mention it’s tiny?). Taking it all in stride, I know she has simply inherited her father’s eye for sleek lines and a sweet ride. Lucky for me, she’s still a decade away from getting her driver’s license. All of this car talk makes me wonder, though, if her 3-year-old sister too will soon favor the Audi. (She seems to be going faster and faster on her trike these days.) Even if this preschooler does, we can satisfy her need for speed with what’s bound to be a favorite under this year’s Christmas tree. The Mini Quattro ride-on has the look and feel of a bona fide Audi in a pint-sized version. The mounted horn alerts oncoming motorists, while the signature grill and rubber tires speak volumes with their authenticity. We love that this ride-on comes with an owner’s manual to consult when repairs are necessary. And score one for the fact that the Mini Quattro is powered by imagination–and not premium gasoline.

In a Nutshell: Train your kids early on to experience the joy of a fine automobile, and accept full responsibility for generating your own future Audi enthusiast.
